creativeLIVE workshop in Seattle

The week before last I was in Seattle for 4 nights. Two of the days I participated in Arica Dorff's Pet Photography Workshop at creativeLIVE, and the third day I played tourist.

This was my second time at creativeLIVE. I enjoyed myself greatly both times. There is something special about spending such a concentrated period of time with people who share my enthusiasms. My fellow students at the workshops and I will stay in touch and continue to encourage and support one another.

Here we all are after the second day. This photo was taken with Karen's camera.

On the sightseeing day we managed to fit in many of Seattle's tourist landmarks including the Space Needle, Pike's Market, and a view of downtown from the hillside. My absolute favourite part was the Chihuly glass exhibit at the base of the Space Needle. I would happily go again - it was easily the best $19 I spent that day. My photos don't show the scale of the work. These pieces are enormous.

Library photo exhibition ~ Squamish Valley Photo Club

The Squamish Valley Photo Club is holding an exhibit in the Squamish library foyer in December. We were all asked to submit the photo that we considered to be The Best of 2012.

Dog portrait photograph

I had a difficult time choosing one photo that I thought could be "The Best" one of the year for me. In the end this one won, mostly because the effect is exactly what I was hoping to get when I set up my lights. Also, this is a good photo of my dog, Caiman, and I am rarely happy with the photos I take of him.

There is an opening reception at the library tomorrow (December 5th) from 6-8pm, and the display will be up for the rest of the month. Please come by and check it out!

The pet calendar is going to print!

I will have a limited quantity available for sale. These are good quality press-printed 8x8" calendars from printed in Canada. They are $25 each, plus actual shipping costs, and you can email me at photos@tracysutherland.com to place an order. I ship Canada Post, preferably, which is cheapest but means that any out of country orders may not arrive before January 1st.
